Looking for a World-Class Director of Sales
M3 Design is a product development firm that creates solutions for a wide variety of clients across the lifestyle, healthcare, and workplace industries. We are a group of creative problem solvers that utilize industrial design, UI/UX expertise, and engineering to help our clients bring world-class products to market.
What you’ll do…
• Bring in new clients through networking, cold reach-outs, marketing leads, and research. Foster past/dormant accounts and follow-up with past prospects on a regular basis (primary objective)
• Support Account Managers on a as-needed basis to expand our reach in existing clients (secondary objective)
• In conjunction with Marketing, research and target companies that meet M3 Design’s target market while also identifying new companies to consider.
• Perform value-based selling – identify and connect customer needs with M3 Design service offerings. Present the value proposition of M3
• Understand the business case for potential clients and show how M3 Design can help achieve these.
• Develop project proposals with some assistance from the technical staff
• Update leads, accounts, and opportunities in Salesforce CRM and provide regular status reports to management
• Travel as required to meet face-to-face with clients – estimated 10% to 25% travel time.
• Be a brand ambassador for M3 Design, working with Marketing on LinkedIn social media posts.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, client priorities, and competitive activities to guide company strategy.
• Identify new service offerings and market opportunities for M3 to consider
• Create and present compelling pitch materials and proposals to secure new business
Skills and Experience Required:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role focused on growth, marketing, or business development, product design industry experience is highly preferred
• Experience working in a professional services sales position
• Experience prospecting and selling into Medical Devices, Industrial, and other B2B markets
• Strong understanding of product design and innovation industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
• Successful track record of closing multiple deals in the $250k to $1M range per year
• Ability to work independently and with a team to achieve project goals
• Self-starter, dependable, with a strong work ethic
• Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Dynamic and persuasive presentation skills
• Successful quota attainment over consecutive years
• Ability to understand prospects and overcome sales objections
• Ability to manage multi-task. Managing multiple leads and opportunities at one time.
• Committed to meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales goals
• Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet M3 Design’s core values
• Strong business acumen, ethics, professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
• Possess a significant understanding of business strategy, brand strategy, product marketing, and the role of innovation in today’s business environment.
• Credible and persuasive engagement at all levels of a client organization is a must (Director, VP, and C-suite)
• Ability to craft project proposals and presentations to close deals
• Work with internal resources to scope and price the work.
Education / Training Required:
- BS in Marketing, Business, technical field, or industrial design. An MBA is a plus.
- Good understanding of the complete sales cycle
- Has undergone professional sales training (value-based selling, B2B selling, Enterprise selling)
- Proficient in Salesforce CRM
- Proficient in Microsoft O365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
